Your questions answered
In my experience, coaching is not always fully understood at first. These frequently asked questions are here to explain how coaching works, what you can expect, and how it supports individuals, leaders and organisations to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Q. What actually happens during a coaching session?
A: We talk through your current challenges, break down what is holding you back, and using powerful open questions help you to appreciate your values, set clear, doable actions and make yourself accountable.
Q: What is the difference between Coaching and Counselling?
A: Counselling focuses on healing past pain, resolving trauma, and understanding "why" you feel a certain way. Coaching starts with where you are today and creates a clear strategy for "how" to achieve your goals tomorrow.
Q: What is the difference between Coaching and Mentoring?
A: A mentor says, "Here is what I did, you should copy it." A coach says, "Let's explore your unique strengths to find the best path for you." Mentoring is about sharing past experience; coaching is about unlocking your personal potential.
Q: What is the difference between Coaching and Consulting?
A: A consultant is an outside expert hired to diagnose a specific problem and hand you the answers. A coach works alongside you to build your own skills, confidence, and problem-solving abilities so you can win long after the coaching ends.
Q: What is the difference between Coaching and Therapy?
A: Therapy focuses on healing and the past. It’s primary goal is to help you understand "why" you feel the way you do. A therapist is a trained medical professional who helps you dig into your past, process old pain, heal trauma, and manage clinical mental health conditions like anxiety or depression. The focus is on moving from a place of distress to a place of baseline stability.
Q: What if I don’t have enough time for this right now?
A: Coaching helps you win back time. We work efficiently, and our sessions are designed to fit smoothly into a busy life. They can be 30 to 60 mins set on a cadence to suit your goals.
Q: Is my personal information kept safe and private?
A: Yes, completely. Everything we discuss is 100% confidential. Your topics and struggles are safe with me. Please read my Privacy Policy in the Blurb section
Q: How long will it take to see real changes in my life?
A: Many clients feel a shift after the very first session. Lasting, deep habits usually take around three months to stick.
Q: Can I stop my coaching package if my situation changes?
A: Life happens. We can pause your coaching or sort out a fair refund for any sessions you have not used yet.
Individual coaching: These questions focus on personal commitment, confidentiality, what coaching isn’t and the changes coaching can support.
Corporate coaching: These questions focus on proof, business values and goals, metrics, coaching over mentoring and manager involvement.
Q: How do you prove that coaching is worth the business investment?
A: We track success through clear goals, like how well you keep top staff, how engaged your team is, and how fast leaders hit their targets.
Q: Will the sponsor get updates on what the employee talks about?
A: The coaching sessions remain completely private to build trust. However, we do share high-level progress reports regarding business goals.
Q: Can you match your coaching programme with our current company goals?
A: Absolutely. We mix your company values and key performance targets directly into our leadership training.
Q: How do you handle team members who don’t want to be coached?
A: We never force it. We start with a friendly chat to show them how coaching helps their career, not just the company.
Q: Why are your corporate rates higher than your individual rates?
A: Corporate coaching often requires extra work, like stakeholder meetings, company tools, and custom business reports. Plus, it drives financial returns for the business, advocacy for the business with individuals and improves retention.
Q: How does leadership coaching differ from traditional manager training?
A: Training is a one-size-fits-all where people quickly forget what they learned. Coaching is personalised, interactive, and directly solves the real-time problems your managers face on the job day to day.
Q: We already have internal mentors. Why hire an external coach?
A: Internal mentors are great, but employees often hide their real struggles from colleagues to protect their image. An external coach provides a 100% safe, neutral space where leaders can expose their weaknesses and fix them without fear of corporate politics.
